About Us

Powell Search Associates was launched with the goal of becoming a boutique agency that attracted the kind of clients, candidates and employees who share the philosophy that great organizations are created through intelligent hiring and retention practices. As the former CEO of Honeywell, Larry Bossidy, once said, "I am convinced that nothing we do is more important than hiring and developing people. At the end of the day you bet on people, not on strategies."

We also know that Powell Search Associate's success is directly linked to our ability to help clients build world class management teams. So during the search process, our consultants endeavor to seek out those individuals who will not only succeed in their first job, but in subsequent ones as well.

Founder Clare Powell brings broad leadership and management experience to her firm across a variety of different industries. For the past five years she has recruited for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, CRO, Consulting and Venture Capital firms. Before her move into Executive Search, Ms. Powell had a very successful career in Marketing Communications.

Beginning in media planning at D’Arcy Masius Benton and Bowles (acquired by Publicis in 2002), Ms. Powell was recruited by AT&T where, for a decade, she assumed increasing responsibility in product development, advertising and finally, in a corporate position directing the company’s Corporate Sponsorship initiatives. Ms. Powell left AT&T to start the consulting division of a well-known sports marketing firm, ISL Marketing, ultimately leaving to launch her own company that provided a variety of PR and Marketing services to companies such as: Motorola, Lucent Digital Radio/iBiquity Digital, PGI, Xerox, Corning, Schering Plough, Parke-Davis and various non-profit organizations including the Central Park Conservancy and Sesame Workshop.

Ms. Powell received her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hamilton College.

“Look for people who will aim for the remarkable, who will not settle for the routine.”
